Hocus Pocus 2: Release Date, Plot, Cast, Everything You Need to Know

Fans of the cult classic Hocus Pocus can rejoice! The highly-anticipated sequel to the 1993 hit will be released in fall 2022, meaning fans will have two Hocus Pocus flicks to enjoy when the next Halloween season rolls around, according to Disney Plus.
Not that you’ll have to wait long to see the first film – does it really matter if it’s Halloween or not when it comes to the winning combo of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker (from And Just Like That), and Kathy Najimy? Obviously, it doesn’t!
Along with the three, the streamer has announced several new cast members for the project, including Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham and Veep’s Tony Hale and Sam Richardson, as well as returning cast members like Doug Jones.
Hocus Pocus 2 was officially confirmed at Disney’s 2020 Investor Day after the original Hocus Pocus film had become the biggest big-screen re-release of 2020 at the worldwide box office – fresh after the original Hocus Pocus film had become the biggest big-screen re-release of 2020 at the worldwide box office.
The three Sanderson sisters were resurrected after 300 years to sow havoc in Salem, Massachusetts in the first film, and the witches will be resurrected once more 30 years later.

Hocus Pocus 2 Release Date

The sequel to Hocus Pocus will be available on Disney Plus on or around October 31st, making it a Halloween treat for movie enthusiasts.
The executive producer of Hocus Pocus 2 celebrated the conclusion of production on the film with the following Instagram post on Jan. 29:
We previously knew that Hocus Pocus 2 would be released in the fall of 2022, but Shankman’s #Halloween appears to give us a look at all of Hallow’s Eve.
This year, October 31 falls on a Monday. While it’s possible that Disney Plus could broadcast Hocus Pocus 2 on Halloween, it’s also possible that the film will be released on a Friday, as is customary for movie releases (Oct. 28 is the Friday before Halloween, FYI).
Variety reached out to Disney for comment, but they did not respond right away.

Hocus Pocus 2 Trailer

We’re still a long way from seeing a trailer, but while you’re waiting, watch the original film’s trailer, which is available in its full-on Disney+.

Hocus Pocus 2 Cast:

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson, respectively, in the sequel, which will be released in October 2020.
We had to wait until May 2021 for an official statement that the trio will return as the witchy trio, but it wouldn’t have been a Hocus Pocus film without them.
We don’t know if any of the original cast members, including Omri Katz as Max Dennison, Thora Birch as Dani Dennison, and Vinessa Shaw as Allison, will return.
Shaw stated that she had not heard anything about the sequel as of October 2021, but that she would “want to know more about it.” She’s either not in it or keeping it a closely guarded secret since production began.
We do know that Veep star Sam Richardson will appear in the sequel, but we don’t know who he’ll be playing. He’s been joking that he loves Hocus Pocus just as much as the rest of us.
He told ET, “Working with the girls is… I’m outside of myself when I’m doing these scenes.” “‘This is them!’ I exclaim. The Sanderson sisters are doing their spells, and I’m grinning.”
On Halloween, Disney announced more new cast members, including Richardson’s Veep co-star Tony Hale, Ted Lasso, and Game of Thrones star Hannah Waddingham, all of whom would play unknown parts.
Waddingham has remained tight-lipped about her role, although it’s evident that she, like Richardson, is a huge Hocus Pocus enthusiast.
“When I arrived in Rhode Island for my fitting, the second assistant director said, ‘All the ladies would like to meet you.’ My jaw literally fell. I joined them in their costumes and sat with them. Kathy Najimy, Bette Midler, and SJP, to name a few “Variety quoted her as saying.
“And I sat there with them in their full uniforms during their lunch break. It seemed like I was in a competition, and I expected to have to leave the room and then pay someone 1,000 pounds or whatever.”
According to set images, Hale appears to be playing Salem mayor Jefry Traske, but Disney has yet to confirm this.
Doug Jones will reprise his role as Billy Butcherson, while Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, and Belissa Escobedo will play Becca, Cassie, and Izzy, three teenagers who become the Sanderson Sisters’ targets, respectively.
Buckingham released an Instagram set shot from the final day of filming for Peak and Escobedo, giving us our first look at the trio. She wrote, “These last four months have been some of the most insane and fantastic of my whole life.”
This is Instagram content that has been imported. You might be able to find the same information in a different format, or more information, on their website.

“I’m still amazed that I was able to observe and learn from everyone on this set. Thank you for becoming my sisters, Whit and Bel. I’ve learned more from you two than you’ll ever realize. Witches, I’ll see you shortly. You’re in for an adventure of a lifetime.”
Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen round out the cast, but no information about who they’ll be playing has been revealed.

Hocus Pocus 2 plot:

There isn’t much information regarding the narrative of the family-friendly horror film yet.
“It’s been 29 years since someone lighted the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were hanged for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for retribution,” Disney said in a November 2021 press release. Now it’s up to three high school students to figure out how to stop the voracious witches from heaping new havoc on Salem before All Hallow’s Eve at midnight.”
Becca (Whitney Peak), Cassie (Lilia Buckingham), and Izzie (Whitney Peak) are the three high school pupils in question (Belissa Escobedo). They’ll most likely play a similar role to the Dennison siblings and Allison, who were the three children who first became involved with the witches.

Because of his work on Disney Plus’ planned Enchanted sequel, Adam Shankman will not be able to return as director, but he will be involved as a producer. Viewers won’t be “disenchanted” by his successor, as Anne Fletcher, who previously worked on romantic films such as 27 Dresses, will helm this Disney film.
“This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first picture to the next generation of viewers,” Fletcher told the Hollywood Reporter, “and I can’t wait to get started.”

We have high hopes because Midler earlier stated in an interview with People magazine that the script for the planned sequel looked “quite amazing.”
