Full List of Oscar Nominations 2022: The Academy Awards are back for another year, honouring the greatest films of 2021. The Power of the Dog, King Richard, and West Side Story appear to be the front-runners in the best picture race, with a chance for audience favourite The Great Gatsby. Don’t raise your head.
Among the films receiving many nominations are Drive My Car, Nightmare Alley, Belfast, and Licorice Pizza. Best director nominees include Paul Thomas Anderson, Kenneth Branagh, Jane Campion, Steven Spielberg, and Ryûsuke Hamaguchi.
Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Olivia Colman, Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Benedict Cumberbatch, Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman, and Ariana DeBose are among the nominees.
Dune, Cruella, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and No Time to Die are among the films nominated in categories such as costumes and visual effects. In the music categories, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Billie Eilish, Hans Zimmer, and Jonny Greenwood are among the contenders. Lin-Manuel Miranda is nominated for Encanto, but not for the song you may think; the filmmakers submitted Dos Oruguitas for consideration before We Don’t Talk About Bruno became a hit.
On Sunday, March 27, at 5 p.m. PT, ABC will broadcast the 2022 Oscars event live (8 p.m. ET). The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will be a touch different than last year’s very private event: There will be a host this year (who we don’t know yet), and new producers have taken over. Streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV Plus, and Amazon Prime Video will be in the running, as they have been in recent years, especially since the pandemic disrupted many planned theatre releases.
